This collection on transformational grammar has two general content areas: Sentence Components, and Transformations. The method of approach differentiated between traditional grammar and transformational grammar. The objective normally begins with a simple conventional declarative sentence known as the "kernel" which is then transformed into a complex structure to satisfy the objective by adding or rearranging transformational sentence components. Elaborate diagramatic analysis is applied in the study of complex sentence structure. Transformational grammar is in the process of acquiring a common language, whereas traditional grammar has an established repertoire of terminology and procedures for grammatical analysis. A guide is provided for transformational terminology and rules with their corresponding traditional vocabulary. The textbook "English Sentences" by P. Paul Roberts was used as a reference. (GR)
