This is a presentation of a new method for interpreting the Ohio Vocational Interest Survey (OVIS) using visuals. The OVIS, administered in 43 high schools in San Diego County, California, was intended to complement the existing school guidance and counseling programs by providing the students with their measured and expressed occupational interests to assist them in career planning. Through the administration of these tests a program was devised consisting of a demonstration of the use of a prepared kit of materials available to assist counselors and teachers in interpreting the OVIS. The kit consists of masters for the production of overhead transparencies for a group presentation on the interpretation of the OVIS, a teacher-counselor's guide, and an index that relates OVIS scale scores to VIEW (Vital Information for Education and Work) occupations and Volume II of the Dictionary of Occupational Titles. Research indicating the effectiveness of group interpretation of OVIS results with prepared visuals are presented.
