This report discusses administrator-newsmedia relations during a crisis. The report attempts to illuminate the ways in which reporters cover a crisis, deal with the newsman's view of what constitutes a crisis, describe relationships of reporters to the administrator in tense moments, and recommend ways the administrator can deal effectively with the media. The report is based on the experience of several school systems and on the observations of veteran reporters who have covered confrontations. (Author/JF)
