Audiological Assessment.
Rose, Darrell E., Ed.
The text, designed for students and others interested in clinical audiology, is intended to provide comprehensive coverage of not only important concepts in audiology but particularly of the methods and procedures used in audiological assessment. The functions of tests, the administration of specific tests, and the analysis of test results are stressed. Contributed chapters are the work of specialists in each given field. Specific topics discussed are sound generation and transmission, the anatomy and physiology of the auditory system, principles of otologic assessment and treatment, and the psychological and psychiatric aspects of profound hearing loss. Attention is also given to public school hearing conservation, pure-tone audiometry, speech audiometry, pediatric audiology, geriatric patients, and differential audiology. Other topics treated include auditory assessment of the mentally retarded and the mentally ill, electroencephalic audiometry, industrial and military audiology, and hearing aids. (KW)
