This volume is a part of the ACS "Modern Chemical Technology" (ChemTeC) curriculum that is developed for chemical technicians. It is intended as a handbook that will be used throughout the instruction. Safety is stressed in eight of the ten chapters under the headings: safety in the chemical laboratory, personal protective equipment, fire safety and explosions, electrical hazards, toxicity of chemicals, compressed gases, special hazards, and first aid. Other chapters include the keeping of a notebook, and how to find and choose jobs. Revision of the material is anticipated after use in pilot schools. (DS)
