Cultural Language Study: Grade 7.
Schwartz, Betty L.; Tappenden, Jacqueline W.
This course guide, the first in a two-year sequence, is designed to give students an overview of Greek and Roman culture and language from the era of the early Aegean civilizations in Greece and Asia Minor to the Augustan Age in Rome. Six units of study are concerned with the growth and development of Greece and with the metamorphosis of Rome from a small rural community to a world power. Each of the units seeks to develop single concepts relating to: (1) religion, philosophy, and environment; (2) continuance of civilizations and human interaction; (3) peace and the constructive society; (4) a concerned citizenry and the national good; (5) man's quest for immortality; and (6) language study. While the students' work is to be evaluated in terms of stated behavioral objectives, there are no lesson profiles per se. Wilson's workbook, "Basic Language Principles with Latin Background", is suggested for use with this guide. Bibliographies for the student and teacher are included. (RL)
