Enquete sur le langage de l'enfant francais: Transcriptions de conversations d'enfants de 9 ans (Investigation of the Language of French Children: Transcriptions of Conversations of 9-Year-Olds). Document No. 1.
Leclercq, Janine, Comp.
These transcriptions of children living in a suburb of Paris represent and illustrate linguistic behavior and interests of the average nine-year-old French child. Seventy-nine children in groups of three were recorded in 30-minute periods of free conversation and 10-minute periods of play. Analysis reveals more than 30 centers of interest which fall in the domain of family life, school life, outside activities, and personal interests. The conversations reflect 10 areas particularly important to the children: (1) schoolwork, (2) life in the classroom, (3) film, (4) sports, (5) social relations, (6) fantasy, (7) television, (8) student-teacher relations, (9) vacation, and (10) travel. Several transcriptions of children were additionally recorded at home and allow comparison with the initial recording of the child. For a word frequency count of the transcriptions see FL 001 899.
