DOROTHY BRODIN'S COMMITTEE ON PATTERNS AS GRAMMAR ENDORSES AUDIOLINGUAL METHODS AND INTRODUCES DIFFERENT TYPES OF PATTERN DRILLS APPROPRIATE FOR CLASSROOM USE. THE COMMITTEE HEADED BY DONALD D. WALSH OFFERS FOUR STATEMENTS ABOUT SUCH REAL OR IMAGINED RESTRICTIONS AS THE COLLEGE ENTRANCE EXAMINATION BOARD OR REGENTS EXAMINATIONS, TEXTBOOKS, UNSYMPATHETIC ADMINISTRATIONS, OR UNREASONABLE DEMANDS OF COLLEGE LANGUAGE COURSES THAT ARE COMMONLY USED BY TEACHERS AS ALIBIS FOR CLASSROOM INEFFECTIVENESS.
