Mia A. Taylor
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Trevecca Nazarene University
This mixed methods study examined teacher attrition and burnout, along with factors contributing to teachers' intent to leave their positions due to job dissatisfaction, work-related stress levels, and student behavior. The following questions guided this study:What was the relationship between teacher job satisfaction and intent to leave? What was the relationship between teachers' work-related stress levels and intent to leave? How does student behavior affect educators' intent to leave the profession? There were 46 participants in this research study. The participants were solicited from social media platforms (i.e., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn). The population in this study were teachers and educators retired and/or actively or previously employed in an elementary, middle, or high public-school setting in the United States. The findings showed a significant positive correlation between intent to leave and emotional exhaustion with a correlation coefficient of 0.63 (p < 0.001), indicating a large effect size.
