A study of individuals with disabilities who had exited rural (n=25) or urban (n=43) school systems, found the employment rate was 81.4% for urban subjects and 72% for rural subjects. In five industries, controlling for other forms of segregation, occupational segregation produces a gap of 11 percent (manufacturing) to 26 percent (services) in male/female wages.
