A Composite Narrative Case Study of Postschool Transition for Young Adults with Significant Disability. Sage Research Methods Cases Part 1
Sarah M. Hart
Sage Research Methods Cases
Composite narrative case studies are a relatively novel technique to combine multiple data points into a single vignette. This method offers an accessible option for the presentation of research findings that can engage diverse audiences. Findings presented in this manner honor qualitative commitments to preserve rich, complex, and situated experiences of participants. Composite narrative case studies are most applicable to circumstances where participant anonymity or vulnerability needs to be addressed. This case study describes guiding practices as well as benefits and limitations of the method through practical considerations. It provides an original research example of postschool transition through the composite narrative of young adults with significant disability. Through this example, other researchers can learn ways to add rigor and trustworthiness to the presentation of their findings by developing a coherent story of personal perspective research.
