Objectives: This activity provides students with an experiential understanding of conducting reflexive thematic analysis in six steps: (1) understanding the data, (2) generating codes, (3) bringing codes into themes, (4) refining themes, (5) verifying themes, and (6) naming themes. Students then learn how to take thematic analysis even further and answer more question using three additional steps to conducting a thematic co-occurrence analysis: (1) creating a co-occurrence matrix, (2) interpreting the co-occurrence matrix, and (3) verifying the analysis.
