Geiken, Duane O. – 1969
This study compared the responses of 100 randomly selected students from a rural and an urban Missouri community-junior college campus. A stressful situation was defined as any one that causes the student to be concerned, anxious, or uncomfortable. Respondents were to indicate for each of 25 items whether certain situations caused them great,…

Young, Edwin A. – 1970
A new alternative to awarding "F" grades for course failure was investigated by the psychology department of Los Angeles City College, and initial results are reported in this study. Basically, a "W" grade was given to failing Psychology 1 students in place of "F" during the fall 1969 semester. The "W" could…

Lindley, Dennis V. – 1972
This paper discusses Bayesian m-group regression where the groups are arranged in a two-way layout into m rows and n columns, there still being a regression of y on the x's within each group. The mathematical model is then provided as applied to the case where the rows correspond to high schools and the columns to colleges: the predictor variables…

Buse, R. C.; Willett, G. S. – 1973
The study was initiated to learn more about incorporated farms in Wisconsin. Specific objective included: listing all corporations in the state with agriculture incomes, acquiring basic structural data in these units, analyzing differences between various types of corporation farms when classified according to nature of ownership, and determining…

Violation of Homogeneity of Variance Assumption in the Integrated Moving Averages Time Series Model.
Gullickson, Arlen R.; And Others – 1971
This study is an analysis of the robustness of the Box-Tiao integrated moving averages model for analysis of time series quasi experiments. One of the assumptions underlying the Box-Tiao model is that all N values of alpha subscript t come from the same population which has a variance sigma squared. The robustness was studied only in terms of…

Wolff, Hans – 1970
Stochastic approximation algorithms for least square error approximation to density and distribution functions are considered. The main results are necessary and sufficient parameter conditions for the convergence of the approximation processes and a generalization to some time-dependent density and distribution functions. Keselman, H. J.; And Others – 1973
The harmonic mean and Kramer (1956) unequal n forms of the Tukey multiple comparison statistic were investigated for Monte Carlo Type I and Type II errors under conditions of assumption violations. The two major questions concerning the sensitivity of multiple comparison statistics for different types of pairwise contrasts and the affect of…

Jacobson, Benjamin; Roy, Mary – 1972
The principal purpose of the survey was to acquire data on U. S. and Canadian transportation library expenditures, staff, processing capacity, modal specialization and geographic distribution. Information was also requested on interaction between libraries and users outside the sponsoring organization, and viewpoints were solicited on needs for…

Whitely, Susan E.; Dawis, Rene V. – 1973
Although it has been claimed that the Rasch model leads to a higher degree of objectivity in measurement than has been previously possible, this model has had little impact on test development. Population-invariant item and ability calibrations along with the statistical equivalency of any two item subsets are supposedly possible if the item pool…

Greer, Candyce D.; Cole, Steven G. – 1972
The purpose of this study was to ascertain reasons for non-participation in a public family planning program following a commitment to participate. A sample of 650 women who had made appointments at a public family planning clinic were divided into four groups: Post-Partum Kept (PPK), Post-Partum Missed (PPM), Supply Kept (SK), and Supply Missed…

Long, Huey B. – 1972
A study was conducted to determine why the theoretical relationship between dogmatism and conformity had not been verified in correlation studies. The study was designed to study the effect of differing statistical treatments on the coefficient of correlation. Data generated in an experimental framework included conformity scores and dogmatism…

Malgady, Robert G.; Huck, Schuyler W. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1978
The t ratio used in testing the difference between two independent regression coefficients is generalized to the multivariate case of testing the difference between two vectors of regression coefficients. This is particularly useful in determining which of two variables best predicts a number of criterion variables. (Author/JKS)

Parental Attendance at a School Dental Program: Its Impact upon the Dental Behavior of the Children.

Lee, A. John – Journal of School Health, 1978
Results showed a significantly greater improvement in both the dental behavior and dental health of the children whose parents attended a dental session. (Author)

Burns, Edward – Journal of School Psychology, 1977
Studied the degree to which skewed score distributions can affect the interpretation of Illinois Test of Psycholinguistic Abilities (ITPA) Results suggest indices of score variability such as average deviation and standard scores must be interpreted with extreme caution when skewness is a significant factor. Olejnik, Stephen – Journal of Experimental Education, 1987
This study examined the sampling distribution of the analysis of variance F ratio in the two sample cases when it followed a preliminary test for variance equality. When the population variances were equal, the sampling distribution approximated the theoretical F distribution quite well, but not when population variances differed. (JAZ)
