Levin, Sharon G.; Stephan, Paula E. – Sex Roles: A Journal of Research, 1998
Used a database of doctoral-level scientists to examine the question of whether the rewards to publishing in science are gender-blind. Little evidence that the reward process in the 1970s was affected by gender was found, but there was evidence of a catch-up process, indicating problems for women scientists in the past. (SLD)

Leigh, Frederic – Journalism Educator, 1988

Barnett, Marva A. – Polylingua, 1990
Research is an important activity for second-language educators because it ultimately improves teaching abilities. The goal of second-language research should be increasing communication and knowledge throughout the…

(NL)

Bove, Paul A. – ADE Bulletin, 2002
Notes that editors regulate and order knowledge, style and discourse; yet editors should have the daring to give unexpected texts and knowledge to the world. Warner, Allen R.; Pope, Carol A. – Teacher Educator, 1987
To illustrate the "prestige games" frequently observed in forcing teacher educators and other college faculty to publish scholarly work, the article cites ways in which teacher educators can impress yet impart little knowledge or information. Curren, Erik D. – 1993
Ever since the publish-or-perish era began sometime ago, academics in the humanities have experienced a widening gap between their two primary obligations, teaching and research. Bad enough for tenure-track junior faculty, the tension between the demands of writing, delivering, and publishing papers is even worse for graduate students because of…
