The effectiveness of the SAT, in combination with high school records, in predicting college grades is established; its cost effectiveness, however, was not determined. Other uses and considerations of the test appear to be relevant and in need of more study. (JH)

For a sample of 325 students enrolled in freshman chemistry, it was found that performance on the Verbal and Mathematics Sections of the Scholastic Aptitude Test of the College Entrance Examination Board exhibited low preditive validity in relation to a criterion of grades in freshmen chemistry.
