Keith, Timothy Z.; And Others – 1985
School interventions are often based on the assumption that such variables as self-concept and locus of control should have a meaningful impact on achievement. Yet research support for such influence is inconsistent. Because this inconsistency may be due to methodological problems, a study was conducted which used path analysis to determine the…

Pastore, Jose; And Others – Journal of Vocational Behavior, 1975
Data taken in 1970-1971 from three university-trained occupational groups in Sao Paulo's manufacturing industries are used in a path analysis to draw interoccupational comparisons concerning the antecedents of occupational wage differentials. As a whole the analysis illustrates a strategy of comparative occupational analysis. (Author)

DeFries, J. C.; And Others – Developmental Psychology, 1987
A path model of genetic and family environmental transmission was fitted to published twin correlations and to general cognitive ability data from adoptive and nonadoptive families in which children were tested yearly through the fourth year. Longitudinal genetic correlations from infancy to adulthood were modeled explicitly, as were effects of…

Karlin, Samuel – Journal of Educational Statistics, 1987
Discusses the application of path analysis in the context of genetic epidemiology. Examines the coherence of model specification, plausibility of modeling assumptions, the interpretability and usefulness of the model, and the validity of statistical procedures. (RB)

Sneegas, Janiece J. – Journal of Leisure Research, 1986
This study examined the relationship of perceived social competence to leisure participation, leisure satisfaction, and life satisfaction in middle aged and older adults using a sample of 205 people aged 41 to 86. Findings and conclusions are discussed. (Author/MT)

Poltrock, Steven E.; Brown, Polly – Intelligence, 1984
To explore the relationship between spatial ability and both image quality and image process efficiency, 79 subjects completed spatial tests, imagery questionnaires, and laboratory tasks. Laboratory measures of process efficiency and image quality were strongly related to spatial test performance and weakly related to one another. (Author/BW)

Pittman, Joe F., Jr.; And Others – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1983
Examined marital cohesion as a component of marital adjustment. Seven variables related to adjustment were entered into a path model. Over 36 percent of the variance in cohesion was explained by the model. Four hypothesized direct effects were supported (i.e., for comparison level, self-disclosure anxiety, spousal hostility, and sex). (JAC)

Emmers-Sommer, Tara M.; Allen, Mike – 1997
For a study, a path model was developed and tested representing variables that relate to sexual coercion. Specifically, sex, who asked, who paid, relational stage, past/current relationship, attitudes, drug or alcohol use, coercion strategies, and victim resistance were proposed and their effects examined. Data were collected by using electronic…

Brookhart Susan M.; Peretin, Janeen – 2002
This study looked at patterns of relationship among motivational and effort variables for different classroom assessments, considering the assignments interest and importance, students self-efficacy for accomplishing the tasks, and the goal orientations and learning strategy use behind their efforts. A multiple case study design looked at the…

Liu, Richard – 2002
College student retention has become the area of research that has done the most to integrate various administrative factors and academic disciplinary concerns in the research agenda of higher education. V. Tintos model has long been cited as the major theory in explaining dropout behavior. As his theory is so intertwined with path analysis,…

Hong, Eunsook – 1999
A path analytic model of state test anxiety was tested in 169 college students who were enrolled in statistics courses. Variables in the model included gender, mathematics ability, trait test anxiety (trait worry and trait emotionality as separate variables), statistics course anxiety, statistics achievement (scores on midterm examinations),…

Howe, Mark L.; Courage, Mary L. – Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, 1997
Used path analysis in two experiments to examine possibility that age difference in infants' long-term retention were artifacts of correlated differences in learning rates or learning opportunities. Found that developmental declines in forgetting rates between 12 and 18 months were independent of developmental differences in learning. Age…

Allen, Gary L.; Kirasic, Kathleen C.; Spilich, George J. – Child Study Journal, 1997
Rated first through fifth graders' political knowledge and recall of a simulated news story. Used path analysis to determine relationships among grade level, political knowledge, recall of specific story information, and generation of inferences from the story. Results suggested that children's domain-specific knowledge is more influential in…

McDonald, Roderick P. – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1996
Six methods for fitting path models with weighted composites of variables replacing latent variables (of which five are easily implemented with conventional computer software) are introduced and related to "soft" modeling by Partial Least Squares. Criteria for comparing their performance are devised, and some evaluative remarks are…
