Suggests that when a students' response style is greatly skewed, the occupational scales reflect the pattern of the test construction. Correlating that pattern with students' actual profiles showed the common variance may average 35 percent when a predominance of one response reaches 60 percent. (JAC)

A model of examinee behavior was used to generate hypotheses about the operation of true-false scores. Confirmation of hypotheses supported the contention that true-false scores contain an error component that makes these tests less reliable than multiple-choice tests. Investigated the modification of impulsive responding to WISC-R subtests using a procedure which forced the child to delay before responding. A true-false test was administered to a sample of first grade pupils in order to investigate tendency toward acquiescence or dissent in responding to such items. Results indicate that there is a tendency toward acquiescence in some pupils and towards dissent in others. Implications are discussed. (JKS)
