Group Examination as an Equalizing Strategy during COVID-19 Pandemic
Hallmon, Augustus W.
Schole: A Journal of Leisure Studies and Recreation Education, v38 n2 p106-107 2023
The challenges of teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic were multiple and accompanied by dramatic changes in the experiences of students, faculty, and administration. However, this year also offered us an opportunity to be creative and generate new ideas to solve problems we knew about but often did not have enough of a reason to make significant changes. For me, this new idea was the introduction of group exams. Although group work might be not a novel idea, it is rarely used for evaluation purposes, especially in a hybrid (in-person/online) environment. This learning activity will explore what group exams are, what did/did not work, and what I will do differently in the future related to this approach.
