Describes a residence hall store program which provides prepackaged food and snacks to students at Marquette University. Results of a survey of 21 colleges which have residence hall stores revealed primarily informal organizations. Examined whether students living in residence halls permitting alterations are more satisfied with their living environment than those students with less control. Undergraduate achievement in a predominantly university community was compared by three types of residence--residence halls, fraternities and sororities, and off-campus housing.
