Surveyed a national sample of university family-housing staff (N=37) about promoting community life in family housing. The survey resulted in a comprehensive definition of community and a rank-ordered list of factors that promote or inhibit the development of community. (RC)

Surveyed graduate housing assistants (N=147) to determine what factors affected their choice and perceived job satisfaction. Results showed most assistants were unmarried master's degree students who chose a housing assistantship for personal satisfaction and learning experiences. Most found the experience satisfying.
