Uncovered three major profiles of the meaning of working. The most salient profile, representing more than 40 percent in a population consisting of 10 Israeli target groups (N=896), was one with high levels of work centrality. Investigated the development of general attitudes toward work in career transitions of Israeli junior and senior high school students, university students, and vocational and executive trainees. The results confirmed the role of expectations in attitude formation. Similar expectations as to status and advancement led to similar attitudes. (JAC)

Demographic and psychological characteristics of 479 job leavers from two plants were processed, and work stability of 110 previously tested subjects was followed up for up to eight years.
