Evans, Ronald G.; Wanty, Douglas W. – Journal of Personality Assessment, 1979
Two experiments using undergraduates confirmed the hypothesis that external statements in the Rotter Internal External Locus of Control Scale are more depressing in tone than internal statements. Thus, depressed subjects may respond to external items due to item mood level rather than locus of control. (Author/JKS)

Harnisch, Delwyn L.; Linn, Robert L. – 1980
Indices of appropriateness of a test for an individual are discussed, and two data sets are evaluated. With the first data set, three indices of test appropriateness are obtained for response patterns on achievement tests from an experimental study of the effects of test anxiety and time pressure with 173 3rd and 4th grade students. Relationships…

Ebel, Robert L. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1978
A multiple true-false item is one where a testee has to identify statements as true or false within a cluster (of two or more) of such statements. Clusters are then scored as items. This study showed such a procedure to yield less reliable results than traditional true-false items. (JKS)

The feasibility of measuring responding desirably with attitude-opinion items is discussed, and an index based on 16 such items is presented. Estimates of reliability and validity for this index, and examples of its use as a covariate (control) in attitude research are presented. Lienert, Gustav A.; Oeveste, Hans Zur – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1985
Configural frequency analysis (CFA) is suggested as a technique for longitudinal research in developmental psychology.
