Data on the average salaries for college faculty in public institutions in each state are presented for 1978-79. The estimates are derived from the annual Higher Education General Information Survey. Average salaries for faculty employed on nine-month contracts and percent of increase are presented by state for public universities, public other four-year schools, and public two-year schools. Rankings of the states by salaries paid and percent of increase are included as are quartile distributions. (SW)
