Internships are defined as structured educational programs of professional or occupational experience in which the individual receives financial remuneration while serving in preparation for independent performance of duty. Twelve principles for use in developing such programs are presented. (CH)

Industrial arts programs must be upgraded to reflect our highly industrial and technological world. The quality of industrial arts teachers must be improved. Ways to reach this goal include the restructuring of teacher education programs and the development of internship programs. (JOW)
