The Impact of Age, Years of Experience, and Gender on Teacher Job Satisfaction among Teachers in a West Tennessee School District

Teacher job satisfaction is important to retaining high-performing teachers. This study aims to investigate the effects of certain factors, such as age, gender, and years of experience, on overall job satisfaction. This study involved over 400 teachers from a West Tennessee school district, where the Job Satisfaction Survey was distributed. The survey used the variables of fringe benefits, coworkers, pay, promotion, supervision, contingent rewards, operating conditions, nature of work, and communication to determine overall job satisfaction. The results showed that teachers are overall satisfied with their jobs, but there are some significant differences based on age, gender, and years of experience. This study concluded that job satisfaction is affected by different factors that result in significant differences in overall satisfaction.
