A study of eight states that have implemented comparable-worth statutes indicated that each state analyzed job classes systematically, but several modified the consultant-provided systems due to a belief that widely used methods undervalued female-dominant job classes. Examines salary data for a sample of 50 small and medium-sized school districts in Wisconsin to determine how collective bargaining affects teacher salaries compared to other factors. Concludes that bargaining has had a significant negative effect on teacher salaries in these districts. (Author/JG)
