Research on Talent Cultivation Mechanism of Sino-Foreign Cooperative Education from Student's Perspective: A Mixed Method Approach
Zhilong Xu
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Delaware State University
Sino-foreign cooperative education, a cornerstone of China's international higher education collaborations, plays a pioneering role in its higher education reforms. This mode not only offers a bridge to global education markets but also shapes the trajectory of higher educational reform. The research presented here aims to improve the talent-cultivation mechanism of such collaborations. This study, after reviewing the relevant literature in the field by both Chinese and international scholars and adhering to the 'people-oriented' educational philosophy, proposes a mechanism for cultivating international talents from students' perspectives. It adopts an Explanatory Embedded Design: firstly, based on the four key factors affecting the quality of talent cultivation in Sino-foreign cooperative education identified from the literature review, the study uses the three Sino-US joint programs at Ningbo University of Technology as case studies. In conjunction with the evaluation reports from MYCOS and Ministry of Education, it identifies specific influencing variables. Then, a quantitative analysis method is employed, involving the creation of a questionnaire using 'Wen Juan Xing' as the online survey tool, to conduct a survey among over 500 students from different grades in the three programs. Finally, the survey results are compiled, organized, and analyzed using SPSS software. Conclusions and corresponding recommendations are then drawn. This study offers a refined understanding of the talent-cultivation mechanism in Sino-foreign educational partnerships, providing actionable suggestions for its enhancement and ensuring quality talent output.
