Enrollment Projections, 1998-2008: Maryland Public Colleges and Universities. Report 1999-RES-4.
Keller, Michael
This report provides enrollment projections through the year 2008 for community colleges and public four-year institutions in the state of Maryland. Tables detail headcount projections for each higher education institution, with breakdowns by full- and part-time undergraduates and graduate/professional students. Introductory material identifies assumptions of the projection models and notes some highlights: (1) total headcount enrollment at Maryland public colleges and universities is projected to have increased by 15 percent higher, an increase of 32,500 students, in 2008; (2) full-time undergraduate enrollments are projected to increase by 29 percent at the community colleges and 16 percent at the public four-year campuses; part-time undergraduate enrollments are anticipated to rise by 13 percent at four-year campuses and 6 percent at the community colleges; (3) for graduate and professional enrollment, full-time enrollment is projected to increase by 26 percent and part-time enrollment by 17 percent by 2008; (4) both full-time-equivalent and full-time day equivalent enrollments at community colleges are predicted to rise by 18 percent; the increase will be about 16 percent at four-year institutions; and (5) of the anticipated additional students at Maryland public campuses by 2008, 82 percent will be undergraduates and 60 percent of these will be full-time undergraduates. Additional detail on the projection process is appended. (DB)
