This article describes the model for The Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science in Kentucky where Kentucky's young people can extend their learning through university classes, global experiences, and research.

Briefly described is the program of the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics, a residential program for gifted high school juniors and seniors which opened in 1980.
