Weiler, Robert M.; Walls, Nicole A. – 1994
Data suggest that acquaintance and date rape may account for 50-70 percent of all reported rapes in the United States. Recent findings also indicate that one in four college women have been raped or a victim of attempted rape. As most rape victims are between 15 and 24 years of age, high school-based education programs must be provided if society…

Williams, Linda Meyer – 1986
Scientific investigations of the relationship between race and rape have been flawed by the acceptance of official statistics and have been influenced by prevailing myths about rape and race. Gelles, Richard J. – Family Coordinator, 1977
The available evidence on marital violence indicates that a number of women are forced into having sexual relations with their husbands through intimidation or physical force. Although marital rape is not possible in a strict legal sense, some women are talking about and reporting incidents of marital rape. (Author)

Lisak, David; Ivan, Carol – Journal of Interpersonal Violence, 1995
One explanation for male sexual aggression implicates certain adverse consequences of male gender socialization. Two studies tested the hypothesis that sexually aggressive men would be more gender stereotyped and would manifest lower capacities for empathy and intimacy. Results were mostly supportive of the hypothesis. (JBJ)

Miller, Brent C.; And Others – Child Abuse & Neglect: The International Journal, 1995
Psychological and sexual variables were compared for white women, ages 18 through 22, who did (n=41) or did not (n=400) report prior forced sexual intercourse (FSI). Those who had FSI had lower internal locus of control and higher depression scores and needed and received more psychological help than those not reporting FSI. (Author/SW)

Corne, Shawn; And Others – Journal of Interpersonal Violence, 1992

Emmers, Tara M.; Allen, Mike – 1995
Both men and women are faced with relational situations in which sexually coercive behaviors are exercised.
