Sex and need for affiliation (n Aff) were investigated as potential moderators of the association between need for achievement (n Ach) and academic performance. It was hypothesized that high nAch, low n Aff students earn higher grades than high n Ach, high n Aff students. The results for both males and females supported the hypothesis. (Author)

White male adults were more negative with black children than with white children whereas there was a nonsignificant difference between the 2 races for white female adults. Assesses the importance of age in determining the use of conventional and illicit drugs among secondary school students in Texas. Age-drug use relationships were examined in terms of sex, age, and residence of respondents. Rural students' use of deviant drugs exceeded that of urban students. Observations of 469 children in nursery and day care classrooms revealed sex differences in the expected directions for aggression and dependency, but not for cooperation. Age differences varied by sex, social class, and type of behavior. Although social class effects were weakest, they were significant for aggression and cooperation. (Author/RL)

This study examined subject variable effects for, and interrelationships among six measures of racial awareness. Task reliabilities and validities were also assessed.
