Judd, N.; And Others – Social Behavior and Personality, 1975
In this study a male experimenter's style of dress had significant influence upon the number of agreements from older and younger women to answer the interviewer's questions and no influence upon men. Older individuals were more influenced by clothing than were younger ones. Results are discussed. (Author)

Janda, Louis H.; And Others – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1976
The effects of guilt and approachability of a female examiner upon the associative sexual responses of 48 men and 48 women were examined. It was found that low-guilt males made more sexual responses when tested by an approachable examiner than unapproachable examiner. Subjects' perceptions of the experimenters were also examined. This study manipulated norms governing interaction levels in crowded groups of women. Results indicated norms influenced reactions to crowding as predicted. Women reacted most positively when interaction levels were high and most negatively when interaction levels were low. (Author)

An examination of relevant literature reveals that females are sex-role stereotyped as being more expressive than males. It was hypothesized that although females would be more expressive than males, this difference could be explained by two variables--perceived parental expressiveness and interpersonal orientation. Indices of item difficulty and item discrimination were analyzed for the items comprising the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Revised as obtained from a group of 142 subjects with Full Scale IQs below 96. Evidence indicates increase in the number of items on the WISC-R helped increase its internal validity. (Author)

This study examines sex differences in the importance assigned to 16 job factors and in work values among different age cohorts. Data were obtained from 542 college graduates employed in nonacademic positions. Men and women do not differ in endorsement of "people-oriented" values and are congruent on the "self-expression" factor. (Author)

The realistic competency and activity scales of the Self-Directed Search were revised to learn if women's scores on these scales could be increased without reducing their concurrent and construct validity for men and women. Results indicate the revisions increase women's realistic scores, but fail to affect their high point codes. (Author)

Subjects indicated the extent to which they would use different helping categories in response to tape recordings of male or female stimulus persons expressing problems in angry, sad, or neutral manners. Emotion expressed proved to be a powerful determinant of indicated responses. Target sex had little effect on helping responses. (Author)

A test of the personality constructs hypothesized by Holland was performed using a list of adjectives believed to be descriptive of the respective types. The sample used the adjectives to describe themselves in a manner consistent with Holland's model, however the correspondence was closer for males than females. (Author)
