Client Self-Terminations after One Counseling Session: Effects of Problem Recognition, Counselor Gender, and Counselor Experience.
Epperson, Douglas L.; And Others
Journal of Counseling Psychology, v30 n3 p307-15 Jul 1983
Investigated potential relationships between continuation in counseling and the variables of counselor experience, gender, and recognition of clients' problem definitions. Results indicated that clients were more likely to self-terminate after one session when counselors failed to recognize the problem, particularly with experienced counselors and female counselors.
