Administration of the Children's Depression Inventory to a sample of 53 children (ages 8-11) identified as learning disabled found that 35.85 percent of the children reported depressive symptoms. Comparison of injury rates among community-based young people (ages birth to 17) found that children with developmental disabilities (n=1,060) had higher injury rates than did controls, but children with chronic illness (n=963) did not. A telephone survey of 1,019 Chinese Hong Kong households found families showed slightly lower rates of minor violence than U.S. families, but higher rates of severe violence toward children.
