A survey of 344 college students revealed 36.71 percent reported having used minor tranquilizers. Among those who acquired tranquilizers by their own prescription, the vast majority used them from others' prescriptions or black market sources, used them for pleasure. (Author)

Interrelationships between patterns of drug abuse and personality and motivation were determined for male and female subjects. Significant sex differences were found with respect to drug behavior. A questionnaire was administered to 419 university freshmen and results were compared with previous freshmen. Results indicate that more freshmen have tried marijuana than in previous years but there are fewer regular users. Assesses the importance of age in determining the use of conventional and illicit drugs among secondary school students in Texas.
