The authors conducted a study using student teachers in secondary schools to assess the impact of the organization and climate of secondary schools on the teaching of controversial social and political issues. They conclude that there is an atmosphere of censorship in the schools. (KC)

The study is based on responses of 8,553 public school students in New York State, in the seventh through twelfth grades. Family affinity was found to be positively related to students' interest in school and who they would go to for help with a drug problem. (Author)

This research examines client-expressed hostility and the differential effect of hostility as it relates to racial composition of the counseling dyad. Results indicate that a white counselor, when counseling a hostile Black client, is significantly more anxious than when counseling hostile white clients. (Author)

Wiggins, James D. – School Counselor, 1978
The purpose of this study was to determine if the newly placed emphasis on job placement in secondary schools has affected the means by which students actually find entry-level jobs. Three Delaware schools (urban, suburban, and rural) were surveyed. Results indicate "placement persons" had little effect on graduates placed. (Author)

A career decision-making model and program were developed to provide a counseling intervention and teaching materials to aid students in improving their career maturity and decision-making skills.
