Provided is a secondary education bicycle program guide designed for use in a general bicycle awareness course or as part of a driver education course. Chapter 1 of the guide contains the course objectives (psychomotor, cognitive, and affective) and a course outline organized into eight lessons. Each lesson lists lesson objectives, student performance objectives, and teaching procedures. The next twelve chapters provide information on various aspects of bicycling: driver education bicycle awareness; rules and regulations; bicycle statistics (accidents) and accident situations; bike usage; bicycle styles, selection, and proper fit; riding technique and evasive action; cycling procedures and practices; adjustment, repair, and maintenance; skill development (e.g., mount and dismount, turn, make emergency stops, etc.); hazard recognition, risk assessment, and decision making; and storing and securing. Concluding the guide is a list of resources and materials (texts, pamphlets and books, magazines and newspapers, films and filmstrips, and organizations). (JH)
