The purpose of the manual is to assist adult advisors to Vocational Industrial Clubs of America (VICA) is providing leadership and character development opportunities for the individual participants in the program. The manual is divided into 24 detailed lessons, each one explaining the objective, the preparation, the presentation, the application, and the evaluation of the topic. Although not grouped topically in the manual, broadly speaking, three lessons deal with the VICA organization, its background and its symbolism, and another 13 lessons deal with procedures for organizing and sustaining a VICA organization and consider such things as membership drives, developing the constitution, setting up the organizational structure, conducting VICA elections, establishing committees, and planning activities. Four lessons deal broadly with communication, including a sales manager speech exercise and an exercise on group decision making. The final lesson acquaints members with other vocational youth organizations. (JR)
