The booklet is designed to help Girl Scout leaders make effective use of the Child Development Guide. The discussion covers: getting started (an explanation of how the guide works, what parts of the guide to use, a brief outline of the various activities to be used, kinds of participation, and samples of individual forms for each girl's projects); the "why" of education for parenthood (a brief outline of the goals and needs the program is designed to meet); fitting it into the total program (how the guide can be integrated with regular girl scout activities); discussion leader skills (some methods for encouraging group discussion); group techniques (including brainstorming, role playing, rapping, round table discussions, debates, and panels); sharing (how to effectively share in groups using nondirective questions); and resources (suggestions for finding resources--people, agencies, and materials).
