Industrial Arts 7-9. Manufacturing: Metalwork, Plastics, Woodwork, Manufacturing.
Manitoba Dept. of Education, Winnipeg. Div. of Vocational Education.
This curriculum guide provides materials for the industrial arts (grades 7-9) subject cluster of manufacturing. This subject cluster has four areas of study: metalwork, plastics, woodwork, and manufacturing. Introductory materials include an overview of the industrial arts curriculum in its entirety, a listing of program objectives for each of the four areas of study, and information on curriculum implementation. The three core modules common to each area of study (student orientation, safety, and careers) are treated in a general way in a separate section, and more specifically with the four subject areas. The next four sections contain the core and optional modules for the four areas. Each of the modules includes the following: major objective, student objectives, suggested activities and notes, and resources. All four areas have modules on these topics: student orientation, safety, careers, measurement, design and construction, consumerism, materials, separation, forming, fastening, finishing, jigs and fixtures, mass production, and enterprise system. In addition, two areas of study--metalwork and manufacturing--include a module on conditioning. A bibliography of 47 columns concludes the guide, including references to texts, reference and professional books, periodicals, law statutes, and especially audiovisual materials, arranged by the four topics.
