Effects of Background Event Rate on Sustained Attention of Mentally Retarded and Nonretarded Adults.
Tomporowski, Phillip D.; And Others – American Journal on Mental Retardation, 1990
Mentally retarded and nonretarded adults (n=32) performed visual vigilance tests in which single digits were presented at either a fast or slow rate and the rate shifted without warning. Retarded observers detected fewer targets and made more false alarms than did nonretarded observers in all test conditions. (Author/JDD)

Griffin, James Craig; And Others
Twelve educable or trainable Ss, 14 to 22 years of age, who were institutionalized residents of a state school for the retarded, were examined in a simple vigilance test to determine effects of knowledge-of-results (KR) contingent upon correct responses. Each S in the KR group was instructed to press a switch upon seeing a light signal and to…

Mosley, James L.; Bakal, Donald A. – American Journal of Mental Deficiency, 1974
A continuous reinforcement, delayed classical eyelid-conditioning paradigm in combination with the peripheral vasomotor response of digital vasoconstriction was employed to examine the hypothesized attention deficit for 10 15-year-old educable mentally retarded and same-age nonretarded Ss. Ratekin, Cindy – 1993
The effect of "temperament" in a school-like environment was evaluated for 30 children with mental retardation, 30 children with autism, and 30 typical children (all groups with a mean mental age of 23 to 24 months). Five-minute videotapes of each child attempting to complete a puzzle were viewed and scored by raters on the University of…
