A Follow-Up Study of Selected Subjects Who Attended the Central State University Reading Clinic.
Clark, Cavannah Mewborn
This report is concerned with the status of former clinic subjects who completed instruction two to seven years prior to this study. Changes in reading performance were investigated, actual reading level was compared with the reading expectancy level for each student, and the subjects' and parents' ratings of the subjects' reading performance and habits were explored. The results indicated that the reading performance of the subjects showed a pattern of inconsistency on the three reading evaluations made. There was little relationship between the academic performance of the subjects and their self-image, attitude toward reading, or reading level. Also, the opinions of subjects and parents differed on the subjects' reading habits, the help subjects received with reading at school, and the subjects' reading levels. (Author/WR)
