Faculty Lived Experience Receiving Online Professional Development

Qualitative Phenomenological hermeneutic interviews of university faculty were conducted to bring the faculty lived experience of their own faculty development experiences learning online compared to face-to-face faculty development they have received. All participants had experienced learning professional development online and face-to-face. The interviews were recorded to audio files and then transcribed to Microsoft Word documents. The Word documents were sent to the participants for verification. Data were then analyzed to find categories of concepts that were discussed as having influence on their experience with online learning. These categories were then discussed, interpreted, and compared to studies from the literature review. Opinions from this study varied in some ways but were similar in other ways to the study results from the literature review.
