This report describes the historical development of Hawaii's Public Education System with emphasis on State funding. The report discusses (1) the development of a unified Statewide school system; (2) some problems, difficulties, and successes in providing State support and operation of all schools; (3) the plan for allocation of funds to the schools; and (4) adjustments or modifications that appear to be needed for the future.
