Inservice Education: Contribution to Innovations. A Review of a Study of the Elementary Demonstration Schools in Individualized Instruction in Texas.
Texas Education Agency, Austin.
A survey was conducted of Demonstration Schools in Individualized Instruction (DSII) in Texas with the aim of demonstrating the kinds of inservice education that evolve in support of successful educational innovations. A summary of innovative practices in the surveyed schools, such as program objectives, materials, staffing, organization, and pacing is presented. A survey of inservice education practices in these schools revealed similar patterns in experiences, incentives, planning, and objectives. It is suggested that a high quality of inservice has a distinct relationship to well developed and validated educational programs. (JD)
