Present U.S. administrative plans to reduce the number of advisory and interagency coordinating bodies may have negative consequences in the science areas. The U.S. Climate Program is a complex interagency program with activities in many agencies. There is concern that following current policies could severely limit this program. (MA)

The U.S. imports more than half its fish foods per year. As a result, the federal government is now showing an interest in aquaculture and has designated the Department of Agriculture as the lead agency for research, extension, and education.
