Ewert, Lawrence D.; Wiggins, Nancy – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1973
The purpose of the present study was to investigate the underlying dimensions of the 10 Rorschach inkblots by means of standard multidimensional scaling procedures. The question of whether such emergent dimensions would be related to standard Rorschach scoring categories was raised; and the possibility of individual characteristics was explored.…

Stewart, Abigail J.; Winter, David G. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1976
Female subjects were randomly assigned to an n Power arousal group or control group. Analysis of TAT protocols revealed that n Power was aroused in women as successfully as the procedures had been with men. Subjects' self-ratings also demonstrated that subjects felt stronger in the experimental group. (NG)

Boudreaux, Ronald F.; Dreger, Ralph M. – Journal of Personality Assessment, 1974
Examined the content factors of the GPPT using factor analytic procedures based on item intercorrelations, in contrast to the published version's use of part scores from a prior groupings of items. In terms of what it proposes to measure, it was concluded that the GPPT has very limited utility. (Author/RC)

Coulacoglou, Carina – International Journal of Testing, 2002
Studied the construct validity of the Fairy Tale Test (C. Coulacoglu, 1993), a personality projective test for children, in a sample of 800 Greek children aged 8, 10, and 12. Factor analysis led to identification of eight primary factors, and correlations with other measures provide construct validity evidence. (SLD)

Johnson, Frank A.; Greenberg, Roger P. – Journal of Personality Assessment, 1978
The drawings of 32 poliomyelitis patients and their matched controls were examined to see whether figure drawings primarily reflect the subject's projection of psychological state, ability to draw, or some combination of these two factors. Quality of drawing may at times be the overwhelming determinant of clinical and research findings.…

Melnick, Barry; Hurley, John R. – J Consult Clin Psychol, 1969
Findings resulting from attempts to explore hypotheses derived from contemporary descriptions of abusive mothers which see them as hostile, overwhelmed by maternal responsibilities. Rather they appear unable to empathize with children, frustrated in dependency needs emotionally deprived. Reprints available from John R. Hurley, Department of…

Veiel, H.; Coles, E. M. – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1982
Definitions of projective tests are critiqued. A distinction is made between projective tests and projective techniques. The unique feature of the latter is its scoring process: response categories are intensionally defined and comprise infinite sets of responses. A continuity from psychometric to projective tests is argued. Statistical…

Bell, Nancy L.; Nagle, Richard J. – Psychology in the Schools, 1999
Investigates the validity of the Roberts Apperception Test for Children (RATC) by examining the appropriateness of the standardization norms with other nonclinical samples. Findings suggest that the children in this study form a separate and distinct group from the well-adjusted children upon which the RATC scales were normed and supports previous…

Hobden, Karen L. – 1993
This paper discusses two techniques for improving the predictive validity of personality measures: (1) measuring dispositional levels of private self-consciousness, that is, one's tendency to habitually reflect on covert aspects of the self such as thoughts, feelings, perceptions, and motives; and (2) priming trait-relevant knowledge (temporarily…

Ouellette, Sue E. – American Annals of the Deaf, 1988
The reliability and validity of using the drawings of the House-Tree-Person technique to assess the personality of prelingually deaf persons was evaluated with 33 deaf young adults. Interrater reliability was established for four scales and validity established for five personality traits (aggression, impulsivity, immaturity, egocentricity, and…

Birenbaum, Menucha; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1986
The Endler S-R Inventory of General Trait Anxiousness was analyzed employing Smallest Space Analysis (SSA) and factor analysis. The SSA yielded a two-dimensional lattice partitioning the space into regions corresponding to the situations specified in the inventory. The factor-analytic results were similar but not as informative. (Author/JAZ)

Shouval, Ron; And Others – Journal of Personality Assessment, 1975
It was concluded that a multiple choice form corresponding to a sentence completion measure, test clearly defined personality areas (such as autonomy) could be a reasonable alternative for many purposes. (Author/DEP)

LeUnes, Arnold; And Others – Adolescence, 1980
A survey of journal articles appearing in "Psychological Abstracts" from 1969-73 was made for purposes of identifying those psychological instruments that were most often used in research with adolescents (ages 13-19). (Author/DB)
