Guitar, Barry; And Others – Journal of Speech and Hearing Research, 1992
Two studies of a single case (a 5-year-old girl) considered variables in indirect stuttering treatment. In the first study, mother's speech rate was found to correlate with the child's stuttering; in the second study, different parent variables were found to relate to either primary (effortless) or secondary (tense) stuttering. This study examined 23 case studies of outstandingly successful deaf high school students. Analysis indicated that most of the students experienced some degree of isolation from peers, family, or both but had developed positive coping strategies. Presents the results of two forgiveness education programs on college students who judged themselves parentally love-deprived. The longer program, a six-day workshop using a more developed therapeutic regimen, proved the most successful. Includes a discussion of initial screening techniques and workshop procedures. (MJP)
