Wootton, Linda Spence – Phi Delta Kappan, 1980
Outlines approaches principals may take in dealing with older teachers who will not have to retire at age 65 but who may not be up to handling a full teaching load. Principals must retain only competent teachers while not discriminating on the basis of age. (IRT)

Descriptors: Adults, Age Discrimination, Childrens Literature, Early Childhood Education

Blunk, Elizabeth M.; Williams, Sue W. – Educational Gerontology, 1997
The Social Attitude Scale of Ageist Prejudice was administered to 42 4- and 5-year-olds. Those exposed to an aging education curriculum (n=21) decreased prejudices, whereas controls' prejudices increased. Cohen, Elias S. – Generations, 1990
The language of geriatrics and gerontology reflects the generally held belief that potential for growth and development disappears when the elderly are severely disabled. To counter this mystique, the right to flourish must be advocated through policy, behavior, and attitude change. (SK)

O'Brien, Sandra J. – International Journal of Lifelong Education, 1992
