Barban, N.; de Luna, X.; Lundholm, E.; Svensson, I.; Billari, F. C. – Sociological Methods & Research, 2020
In this article, we combine the extensive literature on the analysis of life-course trajectories as sequences with the literature on causal inference and propose a new matching approach to investigate the causal effect of the timing of life-course events on subsequent outcomes. Our matching approach takes into account pre-event confounders that…

Webb, Wilse B.; Aber, W. Robert – International Journal of Aging and Human Development, 1985
Obtained two-week sleep diaries and four nights of laboratory recordings from 40 persons aged 50 to 70. Results showed no significant effect on sleep structure associated with employment status. Retirement appeared to increase the amount of sleep, generally the result of earlier bedtimes rather than later awakenings. (JAC)

Morgan, Ann; Godbey, Geoffrey – Journal of Leisure Research, 1978
What individuals do during their leisure time in an age-segregated community is often determined by what is provided. Planners of leisure services play a direct role in determining what people do during their leisure time. (JD)

Wise, Lois Recascino – Gerontologist, 1990
Examined effects of Swedish partial pension system on workforce participation among older workers. Eran, Mordechai; Jacobson, Dan – Journal of Gerontology, 1976
Vroom's expectancy theory model to predict older worker's choices between employment or retirement hypothesized that a person's preference would be a function of differences between instrumentality of employment and retirement for attainment of outcomes, multiplied by the valence of each outcome, summed over outcomes. Results supported the…

Peppers, Larry G. – Gerontologist, 1976
The nature of leisure participation among retirees and the effect of "types" of leisure on life satisfaction were the subject of this study. Isolate activities were found to be most prevalent. Many factors are contributive to a rise in the rate of remarriage among older adults.
